EVI Heat Pump

EVI stands for "Enhanced Vapor Injection" and is a technology used on cold climate heat pumps to achieve higher performance at lower temperatures. 

 

EVI Technology Components

EVI heat pumps utilize a smaller internal plate heat exchanger called an "Economizer" within the refrigeration cycle.
A bypass valve diverts some hot refrigerant vapor from the condenser to the Economizer, combining it with colder gas on the Evaporator expansion side.
This process transfers heat energy, raising gas temperature further.
The heated gas is injected at mid-range pressure into the scroll compressor via a separate vapor injection port.
